Industrial and System Engineering Associate Professor Douglas Wiegmann received the award for best paper at the annual meeting of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators. Wiegmann coauthored the paper “Closing the loop in the system safety process: The Human Factors Intervention Matrix,” with Industrial Engineering Professor Scott Shappell from Clemson University. The award comes with a plaque and a $500 honorarium, which Wiegmann and Shappell donated back to the society to support scholarships for students to attend future meetings.
