MyChart Bedside is a new patient portal delivered through an application on an electronic tablet to the bedside of hospitalized patients and/or their designated caregivers. This tool was designed to empower patients and, in turn, improve the quality and safety of care through 3 main functionalities: 1) sharing real-time information, e.g. daily schedule, medications and test results, 2) providing a mechanism to recognize and communicate with the healthcare team, and 3) delivering relevant multi-media patient education. The goal of this study is to evaluate user experience and perceived impact on care of an innovative patient portal, MyChart Bedside, during its first implementation in a pediatric population.
